Oh Deer…You’re Four!

Today is my oldest niece’s 4th birthday! I didn’t realize how soon it would happen until Friday, when I discovered it was already the end of August and her birthday was fast approaching (along with many other birthdays and events!), so I had to act fast to get this card made and sent out. It will probably arrive in the middle of this week, just a little late. Anyway, in going with my challenge lately to use scraps and color palettes saved on my Pinterest board, I chose this once for her card…colors I’ve actually been using a lot of this summer. The stamp set I chose for this card is one of my favorites…Lawn Fawn’s Into the Woods. Like I mentioned above, the papers are all scraps, but the balloon is a Silhouette design, the bow made from American Crafts bakers twine, and the deer was colored using Copic markers. Oh, and I didn’t take a picture of it, but the inside says, “You’re Four!” It turned out so so darling!!!

“You’re awesome” guitar card

The other day I was looking through my saved color palettes on Pinterest, and decided I want to pick a few of my favorites to create cards based on. Since autumn is fast approaching, I decided to go with some autumn-colored ones, and settled on 3 ones I really wanted to use. These color palettes would also make incredible quilts and knit blankets! Anyway, for this card I chose the palette titled, “Sapphire + Pumpkin”. To makes things a little more challenging…I also did my best to use mostly papers from my scrap box. Though the colors aren’t exactly a perfect match, I loved how this first one turned out, and I’m looking forward to the other cards I make inspired by some lovely colors.

Back to School Crayon Card

Since my 5 year old nephew just started kindergarten today, I decided to send him a little card to let him know how excited we are for him to start. I wanted the card to look like a crayon box…especially since a fresh box of crayons was always my favorite school supply! I bought a shape from the Silhouette store that I modified to use for this project. Since the top of the box was the fold of the card, I couldn’t just cut out the outline shape to use, so instead I used yellow paper and cut out the “window” that I then traced and cut out with an Exacto knife. I loved how it turned out, and can be changed depending on the grade!

Fresh Thanks

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted, since we’ve moved and are unpacking I will have to share pictures of my crafting area once I finish, but for now I wanted to share one of my favorite cards I’ve made lately.

I have really loved this color combo ever since I came across and pinned it a few years ago. It was the perfect inspiration for this card.

Now for a little bit about this card. The thank you stamp is another one I used from Lawn Fawn’s So Much To Say, and the papers are mostly scraps I had lying around. The flower, is actually an embellishment I made using this tutorial.
