Using the same color scheme as the last card, and since I had practiced my Copic marker skills on a stamped fox image, I decided to create another card…this time a mini one. I love it so much that I think this might be one I create a bunch of to tell on my Etsy shop (that I’ve never sold anything on). I mean…look how darling this is!!!! I used the fox image from “Into the Woods”, and the sentiment from “Critters in the Forest”…both from Lawn Fawn, and the papers are once again scraps. I also used a birthday hat cutout from the Silhouette Design Store. This is one of my favorite cards that I’ve ever made 🙂
Today is my oldest niece’s 4th birthday! I didn’t realize how soon it would happen until Friday, when I discovered it was already the end of August and her birthday was fast approaching (along with many other birthdays and events!), so I had to act fast to get this card made and sent out. It will probably arrive in the middle of this week, just a little late. Anyway, in going with my challenge lately to use scraps and color palettes saved on my Pinterest board, I chose this once for her card…colors I’ve actually been using a lot of this summer. The stamp set I chose for this card is one of my favorites…Lawn Fawn’s Into the Woods. Like I mentioned above, the papers are all scraps, but the balloon is a Silhouette design, the bow made from American Crafts bakers twine, and the deer was colored using Copic markers. Oh, and I didn’t take a picture of it, but the inside says, “You’re Four!” It turned out so so darling!!!
The other day I was looking through my saved color palettes on Pinterest, and decided I want to pick a few of my favorites to create cards based on. Since autumn is fast approaching, I decided to go with some autumn-colored ones, and settled on 3 ones I really wanted to use. These color palettes would also make incredible quilts and knit blankets! Anyway, for this card I chose the palette titled, “Sapphire + Pumpkin”. To makes things a little more challenging…I also did my best to use mostly papers from my scrap box. Though the colors aren’t exactly a perfect match, I loved how this first one turned out, and I’m looking forward to the other cards I make inspired by some lovely colors.
This week is back to school for the school districts around where I live. It’s both exciting, since I’m going to be taking my first Graduate level class, but also breaking my little teacher heart since I wasn’t able to find a full time teaching position due to our move and getting my Ohio teaching license later than hoped. But I’m still hoping for another school position, and still loving this time of year.
Since my 5 year old nephew just started kindergarten today, I decided to send him a little card to let him know how excited we are for him to start. I wanted the card to look like a crayon box…especially since a fresh box of crayons was always my favorite school supply! I bought a shape from the Silhouette store that I modified to use for this project. Since the top of the box was the fold of the card, I couldn’t just cut out the outline shape to use, so instead I used yellow paper and cut out the “window” that I then traced and cut out with an Exacto knife. I loved how it turned out, and can be changed depending on the grade!
